Penne is one of the most famous Italian pasta shapes and is loved across Italy and the world. Penne translates to the word “pen”, and gets its name from its shape – a short cylinder-shaped pasta that has angled edges. The shape was inspired by a quill. Penne complements virtually every sauce and are exceptional when paired with a chunky sauce. Penne pairs nicely with chunky meat, chunky vegetable, cream, or oil based sauces. Also, these shapes are great for baking dishes.

Over the years, Osem also began importing from Italy quality pasta made of durum wheat – a particularly hard variety – which renders the cooked pasta a typical Italian al dente texture. Made of durum wheat, this children’s favorite is quick and easy to prepare.
